I love to feed my dogs full meals from interactive dog food puzzle toys, and recommend them to almost all my clients. However, I have always been underwhelmed by the offerings. They all seem to be either too easy, too hard to clean, or too breakable. I also don’t like that they all seem to ask the same thing of the dog: “Roll me or throw me around as hard as you can”.
One day I had an idea for a toy and using some wood scraps and items from the Container Store, I turned the idea into reality. Lo and behold, it turned out better than I even expected. It’s challenging but not impossible. Brute force is only minimally helpful. Easy to clean. And uses an entirely different mechanism than other comparable toys. Watching Alan masterfully work it is really fun to watch, too.
Now I am looking to sell and manufacture the Loot Chute™. Ideally it would be made out of hard dog proof plastic. But that’s going to take money I just don’t have. This page is here to help raise awareness of the Loot Chute™ while I work on raising money. Sharing with your friends is much appreciated!
While I was able to register a trademark, I was not able to patent the toy ($5000!). Therefore I unfortunately can’t publicly post some great video I took of the Loot Chute™ in action. If you are serious in wanting to take a look, I’d me more than happy to show you. Just contact me. Thanks!
so I’m all about my dogs and i think food puzzles are a great idea to occupy your dogs. I’m interested see the lootchute. i did feel compelled too mention though….it’s lo and behold, not low. i believe the etymology is something akin to “look and behold” and sorry i know i must seem super uncool but stifflike that jumps out at me and i can’t help but point it out. it’s a compulsion and i have a problem. I’ll Work on it I’m sorry.
and also having re read my previous statement i realize that it’s riddled with errors and so I’m sure i seem even less credible and more douchey. anyway…..good luck with your product! I’ll shut up now
Haha thanks for the correction! And thanks for being the first non-spam comment! Hopefully I will be able to get this out there, but getting a toy made is complicated business when you’re as busy as I am!
