Are you the right client for Steve?

The fact is that, just like in any other business, some clients are better than others.  I only am interested in working with good clients.  I consider it my responsibility to get you where you want to be and I take that seriously. I become emotionally invested in every dog and family I work with.  But I can’t take on that investment for clients that aren’t going to do their part.

What are some of the characteristics of a good client?

A good client:

  • understands that their dog is a living, breathing being with a brain, an emotional life, and a unique personality… and not just a broken robot that can or can’t perform “commands”.
  • has realistic expectations (no, I can’t train your fearful 7 year old chihuahua to love all people all the time in a 60 min session).
  • understands that ultimately, the responsibility is on them to implement the training plan we agree upon.
  • understands that changing behavior is a process.  There are no magic pills.
  • has a sense of humor.

My Training Plans are aimed to meet the needs of any reasonable budget or lifestyle. Budget and lifestyle have nothing to do with whether you are a good client.  If I recommend a service, it is because I think it will be valuable to you. My goal is to alway provide you with high value no matter what you choose.

We will work together to come up with an effective training plan that fits your lifestyle.  I aim to make training fun and easy for you and your dog.  My techniques and methods are reward-based, gentle, and fair to the dog.  I will not compromise on that.

I’m fairly sure that no one in Austin does what I do, the way I do it.  I’m very proud of my work.  If you think that you meet the characteristics of a good client, I would love to help you and your dog.  If not, there are other fine trainers in Austin that I can recommend to you (so you can at least avoid the many horrible ones).
